Where's Samuel?
There he is! Fiona has decided she will occasionally be making physical contact. See?
Remember Canadian Nipple Camp?
We're staging Part II here at home.
Sam's tongue tie snip made a big difference (like now he can eat from the nipple shield instead of not having a chance in heck) but there's still a lot of panicked flailing and crying if he gets over-hungry and a lot of knocking it off (they should make strap-on nipple shields; business venture, anyone?) and spilling milk everywhere but his mouth. So we decided to buckle down, get naked, and stop supplementing for a couple days of intense training.
Meanwhile, since we can't expect Fiona to abandon the fun in life, she took Grammy as her chaperone, got gussied up, and went up the lake to Oona's third birthday party.
Look at these happy party girls!
They had a blast on shore and land and Fiona explained, in no uncertain terms, that I had NOT gone to the fun party. She explained this to me several times. I got it.
Birthday girl at base of bunny in hat.
Happy Birthday, Oona!
I can not WAIT to get to Huron City on Friday and sit on the beach with this kid.
Elliott is, as we speak, at the Tompkins County Health Department picking up Sam's birth certificate so we can drive through Canada.
And on the homefront: often a satisfied boy.
Special shout-out to Shanna Jesch, a wonderful lactation consultant who made a home visit yesterday to help and encourage us. Things are looking up.
Little skater girl in her purple Vans had a really fun evening on David and Sue Watkins' deck chasing and being chased by Emma and Saia. Then we went for a hike together on the South Hill Rec trail and, in the course of lots of "really fast" running, Fiona face-planted into the gravel and I think her tooth moved a little. She definitely spit out and swallowed a pretty significant amount of blood clot and gravel. Oops. She's incredibly brave and dear. I felt so proud of her for getting her cries out, chugging some water, and then asking to be taken out of the stroller to run again. We took some family photos this morning (forthcoming) and we'll see how obvious the fat lips are :)
Sam's awake.

hi Liz...re: teeth moving: Arlo recently went running fell speed toward Ashleigh who was on a swing. He hit the swing at top speed and it sent his two front teeth up and out of sight. We were all frantic as they headed to the ER. Doc said the teeth would either settle back into place in several weeks or they would have to extract them. Turned out fine and we all sighed with great relief. He talked about this owie for days and days. Mostly he loved the popsicle they gave him in the ER and the remote to use the TV. He's fine; teeth came back down and are fine. Whew! Here's to Fiona having the same luck.
Have fun in Lake H. I know how much your all love going there each August. Nice of Sam to arrive in time to be all set to get there. :)
