I looked through some of Elliott's pics last night and found these two beauties from Seattle.
From a walk with Nancy, Matt, and Evelyn at Seward:
And from an episode of exploring the Mayers' house in Superman undies:
Back to Ithacan reality...
It is gorgeous fall here and we've been trying to get outside a lot.
Fiona helped clean Grammy's stairs before she returned from Turkey. She had her heart set on the big, sharp shears but settled for a broom.
A scenic snack for Sam in fall creek...
...made even better when Alden and Oliver joined us.
He already looks small to me here. Having left his copious partially digested dairy mark on Barb's dress, he still managed to get a sweet snuggle out of her. He played the "I just got my 2-month shots" card. That day (2 weeks ago?) be clocked in at 11# 4.5oz, twice his post-partum nadir and 4 pounds more than Fiona at her 2-month appointment. Tubby Tony.
I love post-imm snuggle days.
Fiona's "gentle touch" refrain which we practice at home and school is (often) working.
She's a dear snuggler at heart but also, appropriately, a 2yo caveman (in the Harvey Karp kinda way).
Going to the playground with Teak and Indira inspires the next level of gross motor boldness.
Hi Uncle Nick!!
Sharing tummy time, looking out Grammy's bedroom window.
Adoring his sister.
Playing with Carter at the farm.
Some informal portraiture of this beautiful little boy.
Decked out in his UCSB garb.
Chillin' with Grammy and a purple, corduroy brontosaurus (partially pictured).
After finally taking my geriatric board exam on October 1st, we took a little road trip to Shelburne and Bloomfield for a double feature of Bogels and Wagoners.
Fiona discovered a huge stash of new books at Ainsley and Eliza's.
These girls are expert dramatic readers and super patient and enthusiastic with Fiona.
Sam was battling some toots over the weekend but flashed some sweet smiles at Grandma Nan.
Catching some televised soccer before the girls played their game.
Fiona is still calling herself a Wildcat.
Lucky, happy little cousin!
Last week I went back to work at both jobs, Ithaca and Ovid. I'm finding it an easier transition than returning after Fiona was born but WOW, was it a quick pace change. I'm grateful to have been studying during nap time for the past many weeks as my brain feels ready to do patient care. It also turns out that I really enjoy my work. I had a lot less dread of the return this time and am grateful for another massive reason (Sam) to both keep work and love in perspective and do my work with efficiency.
Some snuggly
and chubby
and exuberantly autumnal kids!
Off for a hike from the house around our wooded trail loop.
This pair of wizards studiously marks trees with magic spells to communicate with other wizards.
(That powerful grey tooth seems to be fading back towards white these days!)
Game day hike outfit for a little portion of the Abbott loop in Danby.
"Look, a purple wild thing is sleeping over there!"
Forest fig bar boogie.
Wait, who drinks breast milk?
That kid!
Happy 3 month birthday, dearest Samuel!
May you survive the coziness your sister inflicts.
We adore you.
p.s. We heard our first laugh at dinner tonight with Smily Sam in his Bumbo as our centerpiece.
It's nice to finally welcome him to the heart of the family table.
