Today started at 4:00am with the sounds of an amplified voice booming over roof tops and through our bathroom window. The same window that the mosquito used to gain access to our room. Fortunately, our net kept the intruder at bay.
First coffee at 6:00 am, loaded with sugar but tasty.
Then on to the center of Gonder by mini bus to see what these 'Piazza Boys' were made of.
We found second breakfast at the Skyline Cafe, climbed a quick learning curve of fending off scamming kids (frickin' heartbreak...), filled a backpack with some grocery essentials, and made our way home by taxi (mini-bus).
I can hardly describe how hard it is to stay awake on this comfy, fur-upholstered couch at the Goha Hotel atop one of Gonder's hills. We had a birthday dinner with Sonal topped off with a plate full of alternating layers of banana cake and creme brulee flan sandwiched by table candles stuck to the plate. These were solicited and winkingly arranged by Andre and Vicki, a French/Oklahoman (respectively) couple who are also working in the hospital and who happened to be dining here also. The combination of 2 beers, some altitude, travel, and overwhelming cultural stimulation (DeeDee's nickname in Juvie?) is making typing difficult.

Italian's going to be a piece of cake after Amharik. And so, who are the Piazza Boys and what is the noise outside the window/netting? Sleep well.
Cool posts. What's the amplified voice at 4 am? Every day? Who needs talk radio when there are amplified monologues for everyone. When do we learn who lives in the castle in the photo? Can we request some more photos? Include a photo of the food and coffee please.
