Face paint, tricycles, dragons, rolling, applesauce, and peek-a-boo: a good few weeks.

"What did Sam said?"
I love this phrase and it's on its way out.  Darn it, she's mastering her tenses.

Marshawn Lynx and his mommy, dressed to the nines of an autumn afternoon:

Fiona is still spending most of each day in a variety of characters.  A few nights ago when I was snuggling her to sleep (in a very small bed my grandfather made) she paused and said,
"I'm a... neigh whale."
Me: "What's that?"
Fi: "A whale that says, 'Neigh'."
Obviously.

Post-school Stewart Park date with Grammy:

A few pics from an Aurora visit.
Fiona (still wearing her wolf suit daily at that point) declared a need to poop on the car ride out there so we pulled over.  But the wolf didn't want to poop there so she followed Pop's advice and "pinched the cheeks together" and waited for the potty.  Good skill.

Post-potty porching in the gloaming.

Learning to appreciate football with Grandma CB (with elephant photobomb).

While brushing teeth, Sam started crying from his bassinet.
Me: "Sounds like Sam's hungry."
Fiona: "He's NOT hungry.  Smoosh them back!"'
Me: "Smoosh my boobs?  Back into my chest?"
Fiona: "Yes."
Me: "Ouch."

Farmers' Market has been chilly but wonderful.  Reminder: fall Sunday market is quiet and lovely.

Sam really got the hang of rolling this week.
He can no longer hang out on beds while we're out of the room.
And he's eating stuff!

A couple times when we were running low on pumped milk Elliott gave him some boring ol' baby cereal mixed up with milk but he's digging the applesauce (courtesy of Grammy and Fiona) and looks a lot more pleased with it than Fiona did with her first taste of hummus at Elysian:

I forget what video this is.  Maybe it's tricycling or breakfast eyebrow exercises.
Honing new skills, regardless.  Here's both.

What a big kid!!
He's such a smiley, dear boy.
I remember this feeling that every age is the BEST age.
No wait, NOW this is the best!

Saturday we played outside.  We played construction worker and tennis soccer and Marshawn rides his trike.

Sometimes the weather has called for indoor projects.

See one; do one; teach one.

Swimming like a whale in the ocean she just painted.

Success.

This year she gets to help build fires.

I love these guys.
I can only hope Sam's giggle sounds like Elliott's.

How do you keep the kids busy while waiting for Thanksgiving pancakes for dinner?
Tell them to pick their noses.

Emma and Fiona made sure they got every last drop of syrup.
Then they giddily piled all the blankets and pillows on top of an amazingly tolerant dog and climbed into a cat carrier.
Sugar!

This marauding dragon loves tacos (and the new stone work on the Commons).
Thanks for the costume, Grammy!

Double tummy-time with alpaca.
(Fiona spent 36 hours with her hair in a pineapple bun hence the 80's crimped look.)
