Oh right, the blog. Happy 6 months, Sammy!

This has been an exhausting and gratitude-filled month.

Everyone is well --I mean TOTALLY well-- but my mom went through a scary surgery with a rare complication and we are all still working to regain the mundane skill of pretending mortality isn't for the living.

Luckily, there's this guy!
May you all have a baby to sniff and giggle with when your sh$t hits the fan.

We had a sort of crafty Christmas this year.
Thanks to the staff of CFM for eating oranges without overtime pay to provide the peels for orange bitters.  Pepper corn, fennel seed, cardamom too.  Yum.

Team Gingerbread.

Kerry, I love this so much.
Elliott thinks we should add a layer next year.

Since the last blog post this guy has mastered eating and moving.
There can be no more gratifying period of life.

Park date with Pop.

Oh right, we were sick for a while.
Fiona is EXCELLENT at providing comfort for the ailing.

Fun with the advent calendar from Grandma CB.

First hair cut with Casey!
They were a totally successful pair.

Unbeknownst to us a first haircut comes with a free mini-mani.
She picked out a sparkly pink bottle but, when Casey asked, "Ready to paint your nails?" Fiona corrected her with, "Actually, those are my claws.  I'm the King Rat."

I should explain that the King Rat is derived from the Mouse King from the Nutcracker.  She's been the Rat King for over two months now.

Here's a covert video of the Rat King dancing alone in the kitchen (in a dragon cape):

Baby in action.
We snuck him into the pre-op area before surgery for a pep talk.
It worked.

Silver lining: Sam and I got to stay with Kevin and Amy in Rochester.
Aren't they cute together??

Meanwhile Fiona joined a bike gang.

And Elliott egged them on.

We were all home for Christmas Eve and Fiona had her priorities in order.

She harvested some "hay" from the yard.

And built a Duplo barn for the reindeer.

Going upstairs to wait for Santa.

Then things got serious.

I love this boy.

So much.

And so does she.

Goofy people.

Three more of them.

Oh wait: another.

The tea set was a big hit.

But the cousins were even bigger.

Watch Fiona's eyes and body language as she anticipates the punch line.
Dragons Love Tacos: you should get it.

Yup.  They're wonderful.

Check out the Turkish goodies from Grammy's 70th birthday romp in September!
Such a great outfit.

Elliott made a quick trip to NYC to see Casey and Christian.

And we had a pancake party.

We made sure all toys were used and costumes donned.

Pleased to meet you!
Sam, Asa.  Asa, Sam.
Destiny.
Talk about a silver lining: one of my mom's EMTs used to be a nanny and we recruited her in the emergency room.
Sam and Asa are 4 days apart and get to hang out twice a week with "Big Sam," our wonderful new nanny.

Umm, you aren't trying to take my princess book, are you?
You wouldn't.

It's all fun and games until somebody... well, actually, it was all fun and games!

These two tried out Ross's new birthday sleeping bag.

Sam is a loved little boy.

And he's a joyous, good, sweet-smelling, loving child.
Yeesh, nothing like a quick tour of this month to make me feel lucky.
