A couple mornings ago my two dear and bright-eyed Ithaca friends sent us proof that they were hanging out together.
In response, two of the three of us were ready at 6am on Monday to send a photo back.
In Massachusetts, Eliza and Ainsley got dressed for the first day of THIRD GRADE!
Fiona participated in her first educational session, answering questions and demonstrating her skills for doctors in my family medicine residency. We forgot to take pictures of her with her students so here we are hanging out on the pleather loveseat in the geriatrics fellows' office. This first one looks like she's ready for a meal; it's good to feel needed.
Genevieve and Evelyn (7 weeks old) were also there teaching.
We both have perfect daughters who are smaller than 95% of their peers.
Keep eating, girls!
Dressed in her team colors, we met Elliott's childhood friend, Brinton and his son, Felix at a Mariner's game. Fiona took the bottle and napped through the crowd noise. Super baby.
She tolerates us.
Denim shorts and a successful thumb sucking session paved the way to a calm bedtime afterwards.
I was too slow on the draw to get her full tickle response but this is still cute, as is the giraffe suit. Grammy thinks the long giraffe necks make her look taller.
Napping in the carseat while I'm at work.
Uncle K-Kless!
Kevin brought over this sweet "grape" hat from his mom, Carolyn. It and a cuddle with Tigie in team colors (again) helped the Seahawks win their 4th straight pre-season game.
This little peanut doesn't want her diaper changed.
She wants to go outside in her kimono!
So, we've all started settling in to some new routines. After the long weekend I start a month of longer days, my mom moves from our friends' house (thanks, Mayers!) into her own place, and we'll figure out the new rhythms even better. This takes practice and really good communication, figuring out how to get everyone exercised, rested, fed, listened to, vitamin D'd, hugged, and paid (at least ONE of us is retired!). We're so grateful to have jobs we enjoy, friends who like us, freedom from depression (it dawned on me and Elliott today that this would be kind of awful if we were angry people), good food in the fridge, a generous and loving Grammy, and --above all else-- a Super Baby. The girl is just incredible. She's so bright and communicative, so interested and intense, so quick to smile and eager to talk and talk, and so darned snuggly. She's the best.
Outside world, we love you.

Smaller than 95% of her peers, perhaps, but she looks so BIG in that nursing photo! Look at her legs! Draped over you! And do I detect THIGH ROLLS? Delicious. Love the shot of her with your mom, amazing.
Hey! Emma just woke up! Think she wanted to say hi.
LOVE YOU!
Also, in the picture with the grape hat she looks EXACTLY LIKE YOU. I have to find the picture I have of you making that exact face.
